The introductory article of the issue global. local. connected. Approaches and concepts in the German teacher training using the example of Dhoch3 first establishes the relevance of its topic by considering the relationship between globally oriented programs and their respective local adaptations. It also acknowledges the still relatively small number of publications that report experiences with Dhoch3. In order to situate the subsequent contributions, the second section outlines the key features of the DAAD’s Dhoch3 program, paying particular attention to its objectives, underlying principles, and potential uses. The article concludes with brief introductions to the individual contributions. As becomes evident, the issue highlights the diversity of context-specific approaches to the Dhoch3 program at various institutions and the resulting opportunities for academic networking.
