Abstract: Although cultural learning is formally embedded in the German as a Foreign Language (GFL) programs at the universities of Salamanca and Barcelona, a systematic didactic implementation has so far been lacking. This article demonstrates how the cultural studies approach can be effectively integrated into didactics seminars through a selective use of Dhoch3 materials. The aim is to raise future teachers’ awareness of the cultural dimensions of GFL instruction. The seminar concept combines material analysis with the development of students’ own teaching units. Based on qualitative evaluations, the article illustrates how materials were adapted for linguistically diverse target groups. Within the context of Spanish education policy, the potential and challenges of culturally reflective learning processes are discussed. The contribution offers practical impulses for the professional development of GFL teacher trainees.
