Abstract: This paper critically examines experiences with implementing Dhoch3 materials in German teacher training at a state university in Vietnam. The focus is on the core question: What context-specific challenges arise when implementing globally designed materials in the Vietnamese higher education landscape? Based on practical teaching experiences, three central challenges are analyzed: the discrepancy between the academic language level of the materials and students' linguistic prerequisites, the differences between local learning traditions and constructivist approaches in Dhoch3, and structural limitations in curricular integration. Concrete adaptation strategies are developed for each area of tension: linguistic scaffolding techniques, gradual introduction to autonomous learning phases, and modular use of selected components. Particular attention is paid to the balance between necessary adaptation and maintaining subject-specific depth. Finally, the role of Dhoch3 as a "quality benchmark" is reflected upon, which beyond immediate use serves as an orientation framework for developing culturally adapted materials.
