A key objective of teacher training is to enable future teachers to design lessons based on scientific evidence. As these scientific findings continue to develop and teachers are constantly confronted with new challenges in their teaching practice, university education increasingly aims to empower teachers to adopt a research-based approach in their professional practice. This article presents a course intended to strengthen the link between skills in research and teaching methods in teacher training. Based on an introduction to the basics of ‘written language’ and a criteria-based textbook analysis, students developed and trialed teaching materials. Video data and interviews collected during micro-teaching served as the basis for the introduction to methods for collecting, processing, and analyzing research data.
