The modules of the DAAD program "Dhoch3" provide lecturers in German and German studies departments at universities worldwide with materials that they can use in the academic training of future German teachers and integrate into their teaching. With regard to Module 9 (Discursive Cultural Studies), the problem at many locations is that existing curricula are often based on a conventional understanding of regional studies.
This article presents concrete application scenarios for the materials of Module 9, which were developed at the universities de Kara (Togo), Pune (India), and Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The materials are adapted to the curricular and structural requirements and interests of each location in order to familiarize students with current concepts of discursive cultural studies. The aim is to demonstrate, by way of example, how discursive cultural studies can be didactically developed and taught in university courses under very different conditions - characterized by heterogeneous learner groups and local didactic requirements. Practical insights into local implementation, for example, through the use of maps as a didactic tool, illustrate the potential of Dhoch3 for the international German as a foreign language context.
