Language as a medium and key to transfer plays a central role in foreign language teacher training, with written language playing an essential role. The high linguistic and technical complexity of academic content challenges non-native German speakers, making text comprehensibility a central concern. The internationally used DAAD program Dhoch3 targets German teacher education. This article addresses the research need for material evaluation by
examining the comprehensibility of texts from Module 3. The analysis focuses on language level and readability of a sample of 175 texts from modules 1 to 3 using AI-supported tools. In addition to language level findings, the analyses of linguistic complexity are particularly insightful. The descriptive, material-based approach makes the text-analytical methodology exemplarily traceable
and reveals further research needs.
